Why do we need to formulate and name chemical compounds?
In nature there are millions of chemical compounds. As you know, a chemical compound is formed by the union of one or more elements combined in fixed proportions and can be separated by chemical methods. As the man had been learning, the need arose to develop a method to understand and prevent the same compound was named in different ways at the discretion of each.
The current nomenclature is systematized by the rules proposed by the IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry), a committee that, periodically, review and update the nomenclature of chemistry. With these notes we will learn to
